1997 economic crisis of asia and how malaysia under BN government solve the problem. We are one of the best and fastest recovered country.

Before the crisis, Malaysia had a large current account deficit of 5% of its GDP. At the time, Malaysia was a popular investment destination, and this was reflected in KLSE activity which was regularly the most active stock exchange in the world (with turnover exceeding even markets with far higher capitalization like the New York Stock Exchange). Expectations at the time were that the growth rate would continue, propelling Malaysia to developed status by 2020, a government policy articulated in Wawasan 2020. At the start of 1997, the KLSE Composite index was above 1,200, the ringgit was trading above 2.50 to the dollar, and the overnight rate was below 7%.
In July 1997, within days of the Thai baht devaluation, the Malaysian ringgit was "attacked" by speculators. The overnight rate jumped from under 8% to over 40%. This led to rating downgrades and a general sell off on the stock and currency markets. By end of 1997, ratings had fallen many notches from investment grade to junk, the KLSE had lost more than 50% from above 1,200 to under 600, and the ringgit had lost 50% of its value, falling from above 2.50 to under 4.57 on (Jan 23, 1998) to the dollar. The then premier, Mahathir Mohammad imposed strict capital controls and introduced a 3.80 peg against the US dollar.
In 1998, the output of the real economy declined plunging the country into its first recession for many years. The construction sector contracted 23.5%, manufacturing shrunk 9% and the agriculture sector 5.9%. Overall, the country's gross domestic product plunged 6.2% in 1998. During that year, the ringgit plunged below 4.7 and the KLSE fell below 270 points. In September that year, various defensive measures were announced to overcome the crisis. The principal measure taken were to move the ringgit from a free float to a fixed exchange rate regime. Bank Negara fixed the ringgit at 3.8 to the dollar. Capital controls were imposed while aid offered from the IMF was refused. Various task force agencies were formed. The Corporate Debt Restructuring Committee dealt with corporate loans. Danaharta discounted and bought bad loans from banks to facilitate orderly asset realization. Danamodal recapitalized banks.
Growth then settled at a slower but more sustainable pace. The massive current account deficit became a fairly substantial surplus. Banks were better capitalized and NPLs were realised in an orderly way. Small banks were bought out by strong ones. A large number of PLCs were unable to regulate their financial affairs and were delisted. Compared to the 1997 current account, by 2005, Malaysia was estimated to have a US$14.06 billion surplus.[27] Asset values however, have not returned to their pre-crisis highs. In 2005 the last of the crisis measures were removed as the ringgit was taken off the fixed exchange system. But unlike the pre-crisis days, it did not appear to be a free float, but a managed float, like theSingapore dollar.

Libya Truth and has Ghadafi really fuck his people

The truth is that Ghadafi has really succesfull in developing his country and taking care of his people. He is more succesful in doing that compared to any other western country in the world including the American and EU too. So, what is actually the problem. They want the black gold!!!! right ??? yes , exactly

Malaysia Airlines and Air Asia, the marriage that is base on convenience??

I am writing this while I am on board of the Mas airplane to Los Angeles on my way to Phoenix, Arizona.  As we know that the MAS staff union is against the merger between Air Asia and MAS and there has been no clue on whether the Union will continue to go against the exercise or will eventually accept it and move on. It could also be a reminder of what  can be done or not to be done by Tan Sri Tony in by  the MAS management in order to make the Union accept the merger .
In whatever angle that we take to look into the situation we should know one thing for fact that MAS has been losing money for years and years and Air Asia has been making money since day one the flight took off from the airport in KLIA under the new management of Tan Sri Tony who took over the the company and its license from the original owner DRB Hicom ( maybe many dont know about this ).
One of the best capabilities of Tan Sri Tony is the strong  financial background that he has and as an expert in the field of financial , he understand clearly about the profit and loss report (PNL). The basic understanding of any business is if the business is in the right direction to become succesfull , the overall expenses will need to be lower than the overall income at all time.  This is the basic principle and this is the main ingredient for success in every  business no matter what type of business it is.
I have read Tun Mahathiri comments in his blog over the matter and he said and explain the situation in a very simple to understand manner . The basic comparison between Air Asia flight and MAS can already make any fool to understand why is MAS is losing money while Air Asia is making tonnes of money even when Air Asia is giving out free tickets. The main different is at most time, Air Asia plane is always on the air working and generating income to the company while MAS airplane is not .
I have the privilage to chat with few of the MAS crew during the flight and he said that they have an opportunity to recently to talk to Tan Sri Tony and Tan Sri Tony was talking about making MAS to take more international route like Hawai , New York ( Mas has deceased from flying to all this places for sometimes ) in order to make more money and improve company profitability.
All the best to MAS
P/s, hope that Tan Sri Tony will also look into the quality of food in MAS now, i doesnt have to be expensive in order it to be delicious.

ways to improve the government

Personally i feel that we are not in the position to change the mentallity of the government servant in any near future. Study shows that the number of the government staff in malaysia is 4 times much bigger than in korea for example. Some says that the reason for the high number of government recruitment is meant to attract attention of the government staff to vote for the government in every election. While the accusation at the current political situation in the country is non relevant anymore but in many previous general election it could be one of the strategy by the BN government to give them more votes. Those were the accusation but base on my own observation and experiences in dealing with the government servant, there are clearly quite a number of sector in the certain ministry that is having shortage of qualified man power up until today. Example for those ministries are ministry of education ( teachers )  ministry of works and ministry of health  ( engineers and doctors ).
Thus if we see the trend for the hiring of public sector staff in the country compared to other  more developed country like korea or more underdeveloped country like cambodia or indonesia, i can sense the level of responsibility of the government in trying to improve the public sector services to the people. Since the slow pace and low productivity of the government staff has been the never ending culture and problems in public sector, hiring more government staff to improve the services to the people should be considered as a  responsible temporary solution.
However, the measures to be taken to improve and motivate the government staff to further improve their performance gradually up until the level of the developed country government staff productivity level will need to be looked into and put in place asap. This is crucial in order to avoid the misconception of the people or certain quarters in playing the issue that the BN government is purposely trying to gain more votes by employing more government staff again and again.
Thus, the announcement by the PM on the exit policy for the non performance government staff should  be the turning point in order to solve the issue, prove that the accusation are all wrong and improve the performance and productivity of every government personnel . The BN government  can now then deliver all the promises given to the people in a more promising manner in the future with these more efficient implementation machinery which is newly being overhauled with the exit policy.

my political friends

1. i got into politics merely by accident when helping a friend who is more interested than me to get and succes into politics, It has been a long way since 1995 up until today and i can see how things has changed overtime. People do change and people do improve. When i say change, i can say that people are not actually being the same forever. Some people change for the good and some change for the worst.
2. My friends in politic that i can say of is mostly are having their own personal agenda. Be it whether it is from the Pro BN or Pro Opposition, thus where are the true warrior nowadays. Many are just fighting for their own agenda at every steps of their way. On the way of getting where they would like to be, they are selling people for their own benefit.
3. Change comes in very slow to the mass people and as the saying goes, people who is succesfull are mostly with the background of being able to change , suit and adapt to the ever changing environment faster than others.
4. I have big sympathy for my fellow friends in politics whether it is in umno, mca or mic, one thing is for sure if you dont change fast enough, people will eventually change you.

thank you
